DAY 6 – THE HIVITES

Overcoming the Stronghold of Deception, Falsehood, and Seduction

When יהוה your Aluah brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you: the (1) Hittites, the (2) Girgashites, the (3) Amorites, the (4) Canaanites, the (5) Perizzites and the (6) Hivites…” (Deuteronomy 7:1)

Understanding the Hivites

Today we continue our journey into the Promised Land by confronting the sixth nation mentioned in Deuteronomy 7:1—the Hivites.

The Hebrew word for Hivite is חִוִּי (Chivvi), Strong’s H2340.

The exact origin of the word is uncertain, but many scholars associate it with the idea of “village dwellers” or “tent dwellers.” In prophetic teaching, however, the Hivites are most often remembered because of how they operated rather than the meaning of their name.

The Hivites became famous through the account of the Gibeonites in Joshua 9.

Knowing that Israel was conquering the land, they disguised themselves with worn-out clothing, old wineskins, moldy bread, and worn sandals. They presented themselves as travelers from a distant land and deceived Joshua and the leaders of Israel into making a covenant with them.

The tragedy is found in one verse:

“But they did not ask the mouth of יהוה.” (Joshua 9:14)

Israel’s mistake was not a lack of military strength, it was a lack of discernment because they failed to seek YAHUAH, they entered into a covenant that He never instructed them to make.

For this reason, the Hivite stronghold is commonly associated with:

  • Deception
  • Falsehood
  • Seduction
  • Counterfeit appearances
  • Half-truths
  • Lack of discernment
  • Making decisions without seeking YAHUAH
  • Being led by feelings rather than truth

The enemy rarely presents deception as obvious evil, he presents it as something that looks almost right.

The Hivite spirit whispers:

  • “It looks good.”
  • “Everyone else is doing it.”
  • “This must be from YAHUAH.”
  • “You don’t need to pray about this.”

Today we ask YAHUAH to sharpen our discernment and expose every lie we have believed.

How the Hivite Stronghold Operates

1. Deception

Believing lies instead of the truth of YAHUAH.

Scripture

“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

Declaration:

I reject every lie of the enemy and choose to walk in the truth of YAHUAH. His truth sets me free.

2. Falsehood

Speaking or agreeing with words that are not aligned with Scripture.

Scripture

“Lying lips are an abomination to יהוה, but those who deal truthfully are His delight.” (Proverbs 12:22)

Declaration:

I renounce every agreement with falsehood. My mouth will speak truth, and my life will reflect the character of YAHUAH.

3. Seduction

Being drawn away from YAHUAH through compromise, temptation, or worldly desires.

Scripture

“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” (Matthew 26:41)

Declaration:

I choose vigilance over carelessness. I will remain faithful to YAHUAH and resist every seductive voice that seeks to draw me away.

4. Lack of Discernment

Making decisions without seeking YAHUAH.

Scripture

“Trust in יהוה with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Declaration:

I seek the counsel of YAHUAH before every decision. His wisdom directs my path.

5. Counterfeit Appearances

Accepting what looks good instead of testing it by the Word.

Scripture

“Beloved ones, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from Aluah.” (1 John 4:1)

Declaration:

I will test every teaching, every opportunity, and every influence by the Word of YAHUAH.

6. Spiritual Discernment

Walking in wisdom through the leading of YAHUAH.

Scripture

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of Aluah…” (James 1:5)

Declaration:

I receive the wisdom of YAHUAH and the discernment of His Ruach to distinguish truth from deception.

Declaration

Speak aloud:

Today I renounce every agreement with deception, falsehood, seduction, and counterfeit truth.

I reject every lie that I have believed concerning YAHUAH, myself, and my calling.

I break every covenant made through deception.

I choose the truth of the Word above the opinions of men.

I will no longer lean upon my own understanding.

I will seek the counsel of YAHUAH in every decision.

I receive eyes to see.

I receive ears to hear.

I receive a discerning heart.

The Ruach HaQodesh leads me into all truth.

Every counterfeit assignment against my life is exposed.

Every hidden snare is uncovered.

Every lie is broken by the truth of YAHUAH.

By the blood of Yahushua HaMasiach, every agreement with the Hivite stronghold is destroyed.

I walk in truth.

I walk in wisdom.

I walk in discernment.

War Cry

Lift your voice boldly!

THE TRUTH OF YAHUAH SETS ME FREE!

EVERY LIE IS EXPOSED!

EVERY COUNTERFEIT IS REVEALED!

MY EYES ARE OPEN!

MY EARS HEAR THE VOICE OF MY SHEPHERD!

I WALK IN DISCERNMENT!

THE HIVITE STRONGHOLD IS FALLING!

NO WEAPON OF DECEPTION SHALL PROSPER!

YAHUAH REIGNS OVER MY LIFE!

Blow the Shofar

After completing your prayer walk, sound the shofar.

As you blow, declare:

I proclaim the victory of the truth of YAHUAH over every lie of the enemy.

Every Hivite stronghold of deception, falsehood, seduction, and confusion must fall.

Every counterfeit is exposed.

Every hidden trap is uncovered.

The light of YAHUAH shines into every place of darkness.

I will hear the voice of my Shepherd and another voice I will not follow.

Truth reigns.

Wisdom reigns.

Discernment reigns.

YAHUAH alone shall lead me.

Communion

Take the bread and the cup.

As you partake, remember:

  • Yahushua declared, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
  • His broken body has made the way for us to walk in truth.
  • His blood cleanses us from every lie, deception, and false agreement.
  • Through His covenant we receive the mind of Messiah and the guidance of the Ruach HaQodesh.

Ask YAHUAH to seal today’s work within your heart and to establish you firmly in His truth.

Abba YAHUAH,

Thank You for being the Aluah of truth and for exposing every hidden work of deception within my life.

Forgive me for every decision I have made without seeking Your counsel. Sharpen my discernment through Your Ruach and teach me to test everything by Your Word.

Guard my heart from deception, falsehood, and seduction and may I never be led by appearances but always by Your voice. Drive out every Hivite stronghold little by little as I continue walking in obedience before You.

Establish me in wisdom, establish me in truth and establish me in covenant faithfulness.

In the Name of Yahushua HaMasiach, halleluYAH!

Day 6 Reminder

“But they did not ask the mouth of יהוה.” (Joshua 9:14)

The Hivites gained access through deception and today we choose a different path.

We will seek YAHUAH before every decision, test every spirit by His Word, and walk in the discernment of His Spirit.

Every lie is being exposed and every counterfeit is being removed. The truth of YAHUAH is leading us into our inheritance.

Shalom beloved,
