The Sons and Daughters of LIGHT will Expect Yeshua

Have you ever been in a conversation with someone about the end times and they will make the statement while waving their finger in your face with the words: “He will come as a thief in the night! We will not know when the Son of God will return!”? Does this argument sound familiar to you?

So many times, we would hear people say that we will never know when Yeshua will return, and some will even state the Scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5:2 (AMP) “The day of the return of Yeshua will come as unexpectedly and suddenly as a thief in the night.” Yes, that is Scripture, but do they read it in context? Because Paul reveals a secret not everybody sees or understand at first. Let’s look at these verses and as you read this, please ask Holy Spirit to reveal to you what He want you to see and understand.

In 1 Thessalonians 5 Paul explain to the followers of Yeshua in verse 1 “But as the suitable times and the precise seasons and dates, brethren, you have no necessity for anything being written to you”, making it clear that he will reveal a secret to them in the next few verses and that they never have to doubt again.

In verse 2 Paul state that they will know perfectly that the return of Yeshua will be unexpectedly, and in verse 3 he will tell them for WHOM it will be unexpectedly: “When PEOPLE are saying, All is well and secure, and, There is peace and safety, then in a moment unforeseen destruction (ruin and death) will come upon THEM as suddenly as labour pains come upon a woman with child; and THEY shall by no means escape, for there will be no escape.”

THE GROUP OF DARKNESS – The Asleep Ones

Paul is clearly dividing something in two groups here. The “PEOPLE” and the “THEY” is the persons who will unexpectantly be surprised by the “Thief in the night” because they do not expect “The Thief”. They are in the group of darkness. They do not know the seasons or the timeline for the end time prophecies, they do not know the Word of God or have an intimate relationship with Him. They are totally clueless of what is about to happen and are in darkness about this event.  That is why Paul say it will come upon THEM as suddenly as labour pains (and that is a painful experience for those of us who have been through it in flesh). So, by this words Paul say THEY are “in the dark” of what will happen – figurative of speech and that THEY are not expecting anything to happen nor anybody to appear.

THE GROUP OF LIGHT – The Awake Ones

We all know what the opposite is of darkness. Here comes the beautiful revealing of the secret in verse 4: “But YOU ARE NOT in (given up to the power of) darkness, BRETHEN, for that day to overtake you by surprise like a thief.” What is clearer than that? The group of darkness will not expect “The Thief” in the night, but the group of Light will expect Him because Paul explains WHY in verse 5: “For YOU are ALL SONS OF LIGHT AND SONS OF THE DAY; we do not belong either to the night or to darkness.” Paul make it clear that the “THEY” (shadow of the “asleep ones” and the unbelievers who will not be expecting Yeshua’s return) are in the dark and will be surprised about the unexpected visit of “The Thief” and the “YOU BRETHEN” (shadow of the believers who will be expecting Yeshua’s return – The Awake Ones) are the Sons of LIGHT and of DAY and they will be filled with the knowledge and TRUTH of God’s word, standing in an intimate relationship with Him and will not be caught unexpectantly when Yeshua returns.

Then Paul ends this revelation with an instruction for the Group of Light in verse 6: “Accordingly then, let us not sleep, as THE REST, but let us keep WIDE AWAKE (alert, watchful, cautious, and on our guard) and let us be sober (calm, collected, and circumspect).”

This concludes the topic of the “unexpected Thief in the night theory” that no one will know about. The Group of Light that is NOT ASLEEP will be expecting the return of Yeshua and they will also know when to expect Him. My question to you today is: In what group are you? We can also take this revelation to Matthew 25 where Yeshua Himself told the parable of the 10 virgins. All 10 of them were asleep, but only 5 woke up and got their lamps trimmed. The 10 virgins are a shadow of the church today. This parable states that only 50% will hear the call! Are you awake and alert, watchful and cautious and on your guard? Then you are in the group of THE LIGHT and you are also expectantly waiting for Yeshua’s return and called sons and daughters of Light!
