The Purple Lint in the Bush – Part 2
Possessing the Promise
Faith, Obedience and the Journey of Sanctification
In Part 1, we stood with Abraham on Mount Moriah, where YAHUAH revealed Himself as the One who provides. Through a seemingly insignificant purple lint hanging in a bush, YAHUAH led us back to Genesis 22 and Romans 4:4, reminding us that His provision is never earned through our works, but flows from His covenant faithfulness. Like Abraham, we are called to trust before we see, to obey before we understand, and to rest in the assurance that YAHUAH has already made provision according to His perfect will.
But this revelation leads us to another important question.
If YAHUAH’s promises are freely given by grace and received through faith, why then did Abraham still have to walk a lifetime of obedience? Why did Israel have to battle seven nations before possessing the Promised Land that YAHUAH had already sworn to give them? And what does this teach us about our own walk with Him today?
As I reflected on the seven-day prophetic journey through the seven nations of Deuteronomy 7, I began to see that YAHUAH was revealing something much deeper. His people do not overcome strongholds in order to earn His promises; they overcome because He is preparing them to possess what He has already promised. Sanctification is not the price of the inheritance—it is the Father’s loving work of preparing His children to walk in the fullness of His covenant.
Let us continue this journey together as we discover the beautiful relationship between faith, obedience, sanctification, and possessing the promises of YAHUAH.
There is a profound difference between receiving a promise and being prepared to inherit it.
Abraham received the promise by faith.
Paul tells us throughout Romans 4 that Abraham did not receive the promise because he earned it, he believed YAHUAH. His faith was counted to him as righteousness and the covenant was established by YAHUAH. Abraham simply trusted the One who made it.
That has never changed. No one earns the promises of YAHUAH.
Yet Abraham still walked a lifelong journey of obedience.
Although Abraham did not earn the covenant, his entire life became a journey of trusting obedience. YAHUAH said,
“Leave your country.“
~ Abraham went ~
YAHUAH said,
“Walk before Me and be blameless.“
~ Abraham obeyed ~
YAHUAH said,
“Offer Isaac.”
~ Abraham climbed the mountain ~
His obedience never purchased the promise and that demonstrated that he trusted the One who had given the promise. Faith always walks and faith always obeys.
Romans 4:15 introduces another key.

Paul writes:
“Because the Law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.“
The word transgression means much more than making a mistake. It literally means to cross a boundary ~~~~ to step beyond the limits that YAHUAH has established.
This becomes extremely important when we begin reading Deuteronomy. YAHUAH continually established boundaries for His covenant people. Not because He wanted to restrict them, but because boundaries protect covenant.
Why seven nations?
When Israel finally entered the land, the promise had already been given generations earlier, yet seven nations still occupied the inheritance. Each nation represented a real historical people and they also illustrate spiritual strongholds that continually oppose wholehearted covenant living.
~ Fear ~ Compromise ~ Self-dependence ~ Materialism ~ Pride ~ Deception ~ Self-exaltation.
These strongholds were standing between Israel and what YAHUAH had already promised. The battle was never about convincing YAHUAH to give them the land. The battle was about removing everything that prevented them from possessing what had already been promised.
The same principle applies today.
Our walk with YAHUAH is not about earning salvation neither is it about persuading Him to bless us, rather, He lovingly sanctifies us because He is preparing us for what He has already promised.
Every area must be surrendered.
Every idol must be removed.
Every fear must be confronted.
Every compromise must be forsaken.
Every hidden stronghold must be broken.
These are not attempts to earn favour, they are the loving work of a Father preparing His children to live fully in covenant with Him.

Sanctification prepares us for inheritance.
This became deeply personal to me while walking through the seven nations of Deuteronomy 7. Every day, YAHUAH searched another area of my own heart and I realized that He was not asking me to overcome these strongholds so that He would finally love me or finally provide for me. He was inviting me to remove everything that hindered deeper fellowship with Him.
Sanctification is never about earning the Father’s acceptance.
It is about becoming increasingly set apart for His purposes.

This also caused me to ask another question. If our greatest inheritance is truly eternal… If Revelation tells us that this present world will one day pass away… If Abraham himself was looking beyond Canaan to a city whose Builder and Maker is YAHUAH… Then perhaps our understanding of inheritance needs to become much larger than we have imagined.
That is exactly where we will continue in Part 3, as we discover the breathtaking hope of our everlasting inheritance in the New Jerusalem.
YAHUAH is not merely preparing us for a place—He is preparing us for Himself.
Heavenly Father, Abba YAHUAH…
Thank You for Your unfailing covenant faithfulness. Thank You that we do not have to strive to earn what You have already promised through Your grace. Thank You that, like Abraham, we are invited to trust You completely and to walk in obedience because we know Your heart.
Father, search us and reveal every stronghold that still hinders us from walking in the fullness of Your will. Expose every fear, every compromise, every idol, every hidden sin, and every area of self-reliance that prevents us from possessing all that You desire for us.
Teach us to welcome Your work of sanctification, not with resistance, but with humble and willing hearts. Refine us as gold is refined. Purify us as a bride being prepared for her Bridegroom. May every trial, every test, and every mountain become another opportunity to trust You more deeply and to grow into the image of Yahushua HaMashiach.
May our lives reflect wholehearted devotion to You. Help us to choose obedience over convenience, holiness over compromise, and faith over fear. Let nothing in this world hold our hearts captive, but may our eyes remain fixed upon You and upon the everlasting inheritance You have prepared for those who love You.
Strengthen us to walk faithfully until the day we stand before You.
In the precious Name of Yahushua HaMashiach. HalleluYAH!
Beloved, as we journey through this life, let us never forget that YAHUAH is doing far more than preparing a destination for us—He is preparing us for the destination. Every step of obedience, every act of surrender, every trial, and every victory is part of His loving work of shaping a people who reflect His character and are ready to dwell in His presence forever.
So, if you find yourself in a season of refinement, do not lose heart. The Father’s hand has never left you. Every stronghold He removes creates more room for His presence. Every boundary He establishes is an expression of His love. Every act of sanctification is preparing you for an inheritance that will never perish, never fade, and can never be taken away.
Continue walking by faith. Continue trusting His promises. Continue choosing obedience.
The One who called you is faithful, and He will surely complete the work He has begun in you.
Shalum beloved,
