THE POWER OF THE OIL IS IN THE BEHOLDER
Beloved over the past few weeks the world has once again turned its attention to the Middle East. The global oil market reacted sharply after the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s Supreme Leader. Within a short time the price of Brent crude jumped from around $70 to roughly $107 per barrel.

The Prophetic Meaning of the Strait of Hormuz
The world’s oil flows through a place whose name historically connects to power and authority — the Strait of Hormuz. “Hormuz” comes from the ancient Persian Hormozd, which referred to the supreme, exalted one, a figure of ultimate authority and power.
Even today, the strait sits at a crossroads of global influence: Iran controls the northern coastline, Oman the southern, but any disruption along this narrow passage immediately shakes the entire oil market. Prophetically, it is striking — the very name of the strait speaks of authority, and the moment tension rises there, the price of oil climbs, sending shockwaves across the world.

Spiritual Parallels: Oil in the Spirit
In the same way spiritually: oil also represents authority, anointing, and the presence of the Spirit. And just like in the natural world, when oil becomes scarce, its value suddenly becomes visible. Those who carry it reveal its power; those who lack it discover their need too late.
Yahuah: The Beholder of the Oil
But here is a truth that cannot be overstated: Yahuah is the ultimate Beholder of the spiritual oil. He is the one who grants it, anoints it, and empowers it. As Scripture says:
- “You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” — Psalm 23:5
- “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.” — 1 John 2:20
- “The Spirit of Yahuah is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” — Isaiah 61:1
Just as Yahuah watches over and governs the supply of physical oil through His creation, so too He is the One who holds and dispenses spiritual oil. No one can carry it without His blessing. No one can shine in its fullness apart from Him.

The Parable of the Virgins and the Oil
As I watched the world reacting to rising oil prices, I was reminded of something Yahushua said in the Gospel of Matthew when He spoke about the time leading up to His return. Most believers know the parable of the ten virgins very well. The central issue is always the same — OIL. Some had it, some did not. And when the critical moment arrived, those who lacked oil discovered something that could not be fixed in that moment. Oil could not be borrowed. It could not be transferred from one person to another. Each person had to carry their own supply.
SCARCITY REVEALS VALUE
In the natural world, oil is becoming more expensive because supply is uncertain. Wars, political shifts, and strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz are suddenly reminding humanity how dependent the world is on oil. The moment oil becomes scarce, its value rises.
Spiritually, the same principle applies. The oil of the Spirit comes with a personal price. It is built through time with Father, through prayer, surrender, obedience, and a life that seeks truth and is set-apart. The oil that keeps a believer’s lamp burning is cultivated slowly, quietly, and intentionally. And ultimately, its power is given and maintained by Yahuah, the Beholder of the oil.
The Power of the Oil in the Beholder
And that is why this statement carries so much weight:
The power of the oil is in the beholder.

Oil itself is only potential. Its true power is revealed in the one who carries it through the anointing Yahuah provides. Two people can stand side by side, speak the same language of faith, and even expect the return of Messiah. Outwardly their lamps may look the same. Yet one may carry oil while the other does not — because Yahuah has entrusted the oil to the one He has prepared.
The difference is often invisible — until the moment when the lamp must burn.
A Call to Prepare
The world suddenly understands how valuable oil really is. Nations react when its price rises. Economies shift when its supply becomes uncertain. Everyone understands that when oil becomes scarce, its value becomes obvious.
But spiritually, many believers have lived as if oil will always be easily available. Yahushua’s warning suggests otherwise. There may come a moment when people suddenly realize they should have pursued the oil long before that moment arrived.
While the world debates the rising price of oil in the markets, there is a much more important question each believer should ask quietly in their own heart:

Do we still carry the oil that keeps the lamp burning?
Because when the moment finally arrives, the power of the oil will not be determined by how much someone speaks about it.
The power of the oil will be revealed in the one who carries it — and in the One who entrusts it.
Encouragement and Declaration
Now is the time to examine your lamp and ask yourself: do you have enough oil? Not just for the moments when everything feels easy, but for the moments when the night is dark and the cry comes suddenly. The world may scramble for oil when the price rises, but spiritually, the supply is not bought with money — it is obtained with faithful, intentional surrender to Yahuah.

Do not wait until it is too late. Begin today to fill your lamp. Cultivate the oil of the Spirit in your life through prayer, obedience, humility, and a heart that seeks His presence above all else. Carry enough oil so that when the moment comes, your lamp burns brightly, a testimony of preparation, wisdom, and intimacy with Father.
Declaration:
I will not be caught unprepared. I will walk in the fullness of the Spirit. I will guard my lamp and carry the oil I need, and I will shine with His presence in the time of His coming.

Prayer:
Father, give me the oil of Your Spirit. Help me to cultivate it daily, to walk in Your anointing, and to be ready for every moment You call me. May my lamp burn brightly and never go out. Let Your power flow through me so that I am prepared, awake, and full of Your life. In Yahushua’s Name, halleluYAH!

PROPHECY WATCH: Rabbi Dr. Itzhak Shapira
Just after I wrote this article, a very dear friend of mine in Netherlands send me this video of Rabbi Itzhak sharing a chilling prophecy he received in June 2025 about the Hormuz Strait and how it is connected to Biblical Prophecies.
I’m attaching the video also to add on this very interesting event in history and why the Strait of Hormuz is so critical in this moment. But take note, I’m not convinced that this is the Gog and Magog War.
Shalom beloved,
