Day 36 – Day of AWE 7 – Sweet Smell of Sacrifice

ABBA YAHUAH, I thank You, for You have mercifully restored my soul within me; great is Your faithfulness. And today, Abba, as I rise to walk with You in the field, I lay down my will as a living sacrifice before You. May every choice, thought, and action become like incense rising—a fragrance pleasing in Your presence. Let my surrender not be out of duty alone, but out of love, that my life may reflect obedience, devotion, and joy. As You are in the field, may my offering be accepted, refined, and multiplied for Your glory. In the Mighty Name of YAHUSHUA. HalleluYAH!

Reflection: Surrender as a Sweet Fragrance

As we rise each day, we are invited to walk in the field with the King, bringing our lives as offerings that ascend like incense before Him. Scripture describes the surrender of our hearts, actions, and thoughts as a sweet fragrance pleasing to YAHUAH. This imagery reminds us that obedience, repentance, and devotion are not abstract concepts — they are living, fragrant offerings that carry the aroma of our love and dedication into His presence.

Understanding the Hebrew Words

The phrase רֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ (reiach nichoach) captures this truth. According to Strong’s Concordance: H7381 – רֵיחַ (reiach): “smell” or “odor,” representing the tangible presence of fragrance that rises into the air, symbolizing the effect of our life lived in surrender.

H5207 – נִיחֹחַ (nichoach): “pleasing” or “soothing,” indicating that the fragrance is delightful to YAHUAH when offered in obedience and purity.

Together, רֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ conveys a life that is intentionally surrendered, producing a fragrance that is both pleasing and acceptable to the King. We see this in Leviticus 1:9 and 2:2, where offerings made by fire are described as a sweet savor unto YAHUAH, a metaphor for lives fully devoted to Him.

Teshuvah – Turning Towards Obedience

To become a sweet fragrance, we must begin with Teshuvah — a turning of our hearts and lives toward YAHUAH. Romans 12:1 calls us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable. This is the intentional surrender of self-will, pride, and distraction. Every act of repentance, every choice to obey, rises like incense — visible in our lives and fragrant to the heart of the King.

Berachah – Receiving Divine Favor

As we offer ourselves in surrender, blessing follows. Philippians 4:18 reminds us that our obedience is “a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to Elohim.” The Berachah is both intimate and expansive: hearts are aligned with the King, communities are touched by His favor, and our lives become vessels through which His presence is known. Every act of obedience, every humble yielding, becomes a channel for divine blessing.

Prayer

Abba Father, thank You for the gift of life and the opportunity to walk in the field with You. Today, I surrender my heart, my mind, and my actions to You. May my life rise as a sweet fragrance before You, pleasing and acceptable in every way. Teach me to walk in Teshuvah daily, to offer obedience in love, and to receive Your blessings as You pour them out. Sanctify me, refine me, and use me to spread the aroma of Your presence wherever I go. In the Name of YAHUSHUA. HalleluYAH

Our surrender, like a sweet fragrance, is both personal and powerful. Teshuvah fuels it; Berachah flows from it. As we walk daily in the King’s field, may every thought, word, and action rise as incense — pleasing, acceptable, and transformative.

Teshuvah [תשובה] brings Berachah [ברכה], the blessing of our King.

Shalom,
