WHAT WAS IN THE ARK OF THE COVENANT?

The Ark of the Covenant contained a Golden pot of Manna, Aaron’s Almond, budding rod as well as the two stone tablets bearing the Ten Commandments (Hebrew 9:4). The two stone tablets represent Yahweh’s Law, while Aaron’s Almond, budding Rod represents new life with Judgement and the Golden Pot of Manna represent sufficient provision. But if we look deeper, we will discover that Yahweh hid Yahshua from the beginning in the manna, in the budding rod and even in the two stone tablets.

THE HIDDEN, BUDDING ALMOND ROD

Scripture refers to Yahshua as a rod in Psalm 110:2 “Yahweh shall send the Rod of Your strength out of Zion to rule in the midst of Your enemies.” and as the Branch in Isaiah 11:1 “And a Shoot goes out from the stump of Jesse, and a Branch will bear fruit out of his roots.” The word in Hebrew for branch is “netzar” (Strongs Heb.Cor.Nr.5342) from the word “natsar” (Strongs Heb.Cor.Nr.5341) which means: to guard, to protect, to maintain, to obey, to conceal, HIDDEN THING, keeper, observe, watcher (-man).

THE ALMOND TREE

‘Hidden thing’ and ‘watchman’ caught my eye in “natsar” because we are talking about Hidden secrets in the Ark of the Covenant and there is a secret in the Almond tree too. In Jeremiah 1:11 we read “And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying. ‘Jeremiah, what do you see? And I said, ‘I see an almond rod.’ Then Yahweh said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I will watch over My word to perform it.” That confirm that the Rod in the Ark of the Covenant represents Yahweh’s Judgement but also His Son, Yahshua, our Messiah who will be the Rod of the Branch of Jesse Who will protect, maintain, obey, conceal, keep and observe all things of His Father Yahweh BUT will also be judging the world at the end as prophesied in Revelation 5 – 11. The Rod represents strength and authority, as a Shepherd uses his rod to lead and correct his flock.

WHY WAS IT AARON’S ROD?

Something to ponder about: Aaron was out of the House of Levi (Exo 4:14), that made him a priest. So, it was the priest’s rod that was in the Ark of The Covenant and Yahshua became our HIGH PRIEST by being the Lamb that’s been sacrificed to be the ultimate atonement for mankind.

THE HIDDEN STONE TABLETS / LAW

The two stone tablets in the Ark of the Covenant were the 10 Commandments that Abba Father gave Moses on Mount Sinai to present to the Israelites. This was the Ketuba / Wedding Contract Covenant for everyone who wants to follow Yahweh and worship Him. In Matthew 5:17 Yahshua Himself said: “Do not think that I came to annul the Torah or the Prophets; I did not come to annul, but to fulfill.” Yahshua’s intention was NEVER to abolish the eternal Torah of YHWH, but to magnify the intent and to become The Law. His ultimate, blood sacrifice atoned us forever and nobody need to ever slaughter an animal again to be sacrificed for their atonement. Yahshua fulfilled it and now became The Law. So, all the time the two stone tablets in the Ark of the Covenant were a shadow of our Messiah who became The Law through His sacrificial death, bringing grace and atonement for our sins.

THE SECRET OF THE HIDDEN MANNA

HIDDEN MANNA – “The one who has an ear, hear what die Spirit says to the congregations. To the one OVERCOMING, I will give him to eat from the HIDDEN MANNA. And I will give to him a white stone, and on the stone a new name having been written, which no one knows except the one receiving it.” (Rev 2:17)

And the house of Israel called its name, Manna, and it was like the seed of coriander, white; and it taste like cakes with honey.”
(Exo 16:31) HRB

Daily Yahweh sent bread from heaven for the Israelites while they were in the desert. Without them even knowing Yahweh showed them that He will one day also give them the Bread of Life from heaven, Yahshua the Messiah.

“This is the Bread which came down out of Heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna and died; the one partaking of this Bread will live forever.” (John 6:58) HRB

Bread Symbolizes Yahweh’s Provision and Our Survival. He provided delicious, daily manna, like the physical daily bread, to sustain the Israelites as they wandered in the desert. He did this because He provided for His children, and their survival depended on it. While manna doesn’t rain down from heaven today, we still depend on the living Father to provide us with our daily bread. As He gave the Israelites bread from heaven, so did He also send Yahshua, the True Bread of Life, for us to sustain us in the Spirit, because He is the Living Bread, and our survival also depends on Him.

The Bible, also called the ‘True Bread’, breathed out by the mouth of Yahweh (2 Timothy 3:16), however, cannot nourish us if it sits on a shelf, unopened. For it to feed us spiritually, we need to spend time reading it. If you truly want to experience Yahweh’s grace and feel His presence, you have to read His Word. We must spiritually eat the living bread of Yahweh, the living Father, the LIVING BREAD He has given us. 

With Yahshua, the Bread of Life (John 6:48), in our hearts and the Living Bread (Yahweh’s Word) in our hands, we will not hunger anymore. Because the Living Word was there from the beginning, like HIDDEN MANNA, so was the Living Bread also there from the beginning. This is the Bread that will give us eternal life!

“I AM the BREAD OF LIFE. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and died. This is the BREAD coming down out of Heaven that anyone may eat of it and not die. I AM the Living BREAD that came down from Heaven. If anyone eats of the BREAD, he will live forever. And indeed, the bread which I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” (John 6:48-51) HRB

Nothing will ever fill you more than the Bread of Life. Eat as much as you can, no restrictions – the best of all; you will not gain any weight in the flesh, but you will gain Everlasting Wisdom in the Spirit.

THE CONCLUSION

How marvelous is this revelation from Yahweh Who opened up this secret for us to see that the Messiah was hidden in the Ark of the Covenant all the time, and now He became our New Covenant.

“Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will cut a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I cut with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand and bring them out of the land of Egypt (which covenant they broke, although I was to be a husband to them, says Yahweh). But this shall be the covenant that I will cut with the house of Israel; After those days, declares Yahweh, I will put My Torah in their inward parts, and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.” (Jeremiah 31:31-33)

In this above verse we clearly learn that Yahweh will restore His house (Israel and Judah) into ONE HOUSE and will put His Torah in their inward parts. It is a promise of a NEW COVENANT. The Torah is the same but in the New Covenant there would be a different priesthood (Melchizedek) and the agreement about sin has changed through the Blood of the Messiah paying the penalty of sin.

The Ark of the Covenant was always standing in the Holy of Holies. It was through “this gate” that the glory of Yahweh flowed, it was through “this gate” to do the atonement on. It was through “this gate” the priests needed to get the sins forgiven for the nation. That is also why the curtain was torn when Yahshua died when He was sacrificed, He became the Living Gate for us and His blood paid the final penalty for our sins and opened up another gate for us; the gate to everlasting life. “I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will have life, and will go in, and will go out, and will find pastures.” (John 10:9)

He is The Living Law, He is The Living Rod, He is the Living Manna and He is the Living Gate.

He is our NEW Living Covenant.
