Day 5 (Elul 5) – Covenant of CHESED (חֶסֶד)
MODEH ANI L’FANEKHA
“Abba Father, I bow before You and lift my heart in awe, declaring You this morning as El Shaddai – YAHUAH, the Almighty One. As the light of a new day breaks forth, I lay down every anxiety, every fear, every worry, and every struggle at Your feet. Cover me with the fragrance of Your fresh Chesed (חֶסֶד – covenantal lovingkindness / mercy) and let my life rise before You like incense, an offering, pleasing and acceptable in Your holy presence. May I walk today in Your Shalom and dwell in Your Light.” https://mattaniahministries.co.za/2025/08/24/the-morning-prayer-the-modeh-ani/
REFLECTION:
The Chesed of YAHUAH flows like a river of covenantal love, steadfast and unchanging. In His name, the letter Hei (ה) appears twice—the 5th letter of the Hebrew alphabet, a sacred symbol of divine grace and favor. This double Hei reminds me that YAHUAH’s mercy is abundant, surrounding and filling every part of my life. From the hand of YAHUAH, marked by the prophetic Hei, His Chesed pours forth like morning light, opening doors no one can close, lifting hearts, and restoring what was broken. Every breath testifies to His unending love, and every step is guided by the power of the double Hei, the number 5 made manifest, revealing His grace and covenant faithfulness in every season.

The Chesed of Yahuah is deeper than the oceans and higher than the heavens. It is the covenant love that does not let go, the mercy that renews with every sunrise. When I stumble, His Chesed lifts me; when I am faithless, His Chesed remains.
TESHUVAH Repent:
Consider the Chesed of YAHUAH, His steadfast lovingkindness that never fails, and reflect on how often it has been taken for granted. Repent of the times you have ignored His mercy, choosing your own way instead of trusting His covenant love. Turn from doubt, from impatience, and from the desire to earn what He freely gives.
Examine moments when you hardened your heart to His guidance or overlooked His tender correction. Teshuvah calls you to return to awareness of His faithful grace, to step away from self-reliance, and to embrace the abundance of His Chesed with humility, gratitude, and awe.

BERACHAH Blessing:
There is a hidden blessing in the call to Teshuvah, a stirring joy that rises as the heart turns back to YAHUAH’s faithful Chesed (חֶסֶד – covenantal lovingkindness / mercy). In the moment of return, mercy will flow like a river, sweeping away every doubt, fear, and failing. Doors once closed will swing open, and your soul will rest in the fullness of His covenant.

Grace & favor shall pour over your broken heart, illuminating paths once darkened, and fill every step with Shalom (שָׁלוֹם – peace, wholeness) and the gentle whisper of divine favor. To return is to awaken, to rise in the light of His Chesed, to dwell under the shelter of His unwavering mercy and to walk in the radiance of blessings freely poured from the hand of YAHUAH.
SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 119:33–40 Hei “ה”
(Hebraic Devotional Version)
“Teach me, יהוה, the way of Your חֻקִּים (Chukim – laws), so that I may keep them to the end. Give me understanding, that I may observe Your תּוֹרָה (Torah – teaching/law) and keep it with all my heart. Lead me in the path of Your מִצְוֹת (Mitzvot – commandments), for I delight in them. Bow my heart to Your עֵדוּת (Edut – testimonies), and not to בָּצַע (Betza – selfish gain).
Turn my eyes away from worthless things; give me life in Your ways. Make Your Word sure to Your servant, who is devoted to Your fear. Turn away my shame which I fear; for Your judgements are good. Behold, I long for Your פִּקּוּדִים (Piqudim – precepts); in Your חֶסֶד (Chesed – lovingkindness) give me life.”

📖 Ephesians 2:4–7
“But Yahuah, being rich in chesed (חֶסֶד) and mercy, because of His great chesed (חֶסֶד) with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Yahushua — by chesed (חֶסֶד) you have been saved — and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Yahushua, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His chesed (חֶסֶד) in kindness toward us in Yahushua.”
PRAYER:
Abba Yahuah, I rest in the beauty of Your Chesed (חֶסֶד – lovingkindness). Your covenant love holds me when I cannot hold myself, and Your mercy lifts me when I fall. Teach me to walk in the light of Your Chesed, to see every breath as a gift of Your unfailing compassion. May my heart be softened by the depth of Your love, and may my life reflect the faithfulness of Your ways. I thank You, O Yahuah, for surrounding me with Your Chesed like a shield, now and forever. HALLELUYAH!
Teshuvah [תשובה] brings Berachah [ברכה], the blessing of our King.
Shalom,
