EVEN THE ELECT WILL BE DECEIVED
Earlier this week I had a dream of standing in a boat with Yahushua on the Sea of Galilee and there were fish hanging on a rope above my head. And Yahushua asked, ‘What do you see?‘ and I answered, ‘I see fish‘. And He replied: ‘It is not fish, look closer.’ And I looked closer, and I said: ‘But it looks like fish, it smells like fish, and it came out of the water and swim like fish? It must be fish.’ And He said: ‘It is not fish, and so even the chosen will be led astray.’
Beloved, in this bizarre, dreadful and crazy end times we are living in we need supernatural, Spiritual discernment from Yahuah, more than ever before! In this dream I saw fish and nothing else because it has all the elements of fish, but I was wrong and was led astray without supernatural discernment.
In Matthew 24, Yahushua was on the Mount of Olives, answering the disciples’ urgent question: “What will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?” (v.3). His answer is sobering. He warns of wars, famines, earthquakes, persecution, and the increase of wickedness. But in the middle of all that, He highlights one danger above all others: DECEPTION.
“For false Messiahs and false prophets will rise up, and they will give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen.” (Matthew 24:24)
There are a few layers and different angles we can look at this dream but what shocked me the most was the DECEPTION. Something that seems to be so natural and so obvious and true, was in fact the opposite. Something harmless like a fish, but yet it was a trap and led me astray because of my lack of discernment.
πλανάω (planáō) – Strong’s G4105
So in Matthew 24:24, Strong’s G4105 – is the word ‘planaō‘, which means = to lead astray, deceive or cause to wander from truth.
Strong’s Definition:
- To cause to wander, to lead astray, to mislead, to deceive.
- Can mean both literal wandering (like a sheep leaving the path) and spiritual deception (being led away from truth).
Key Nuance:
- The root idea is wandering from the right path, just like sheep leaving their shepherd.
- In the New Testament, it nearly always carries a spiritual meaning: being led into error, heresy, or sin.
⚠️ The Danger of Deception
YAHUSHUA doesn’t say that false prophets might come. He says they will come. Not only will they come, but they will be persuasive. They won’t just shout empty words. They’ll perform signs and wonders—things that look powerful, things that feel convincing, things that appeal to our senses.
And the scary part? Their goal is to deceive even the elect—YAHUAH’s chosen people, believers who genuinely follow Yahushua. That means no one is immune to deception simply because they go to church or read their Bible.
🔑 The Core of the Warning
The warning here is clear: in the end times, not everything that looks spiritual is from YAHUAH. Not every miracle, not every sign, not every “prophetic word” is true. The measure of truth is never the spectacle—it’s always whether it aligns with the Word of YAHUAH and the Spirit of YAHUSHUA.
Satan has always been a deceiver. From the garden of Eden until now, his weapon of choice has been lies dressed up in half-truths. And in the last days, those lies will become even more sophisticated, even more convincing.
🔥 What This Means for Us
So how do we stand firm when deception is everywhere?
- Know the real thing. Bankers don’t study counterfeit money by handling fakes all day. They study the real notes so thoroughly that the counterfeit is obvious. In the same way, the more we know YAHUSHUA and His Word, the easier it is to spot what’s false.
- Don’t chase the spectacular. Signs and wonders can be real, but they can also be faked. If our faith rests on miracles, we are vulnerable. But if our faith rests on YAHUSHUA Himself, the Rock, we cannot be shaken.
- Stay watchful and humble. YAHUSHUA says, “See, I have told you ahead of time” (v.25). He wants us alert. The moment we think, “I could never be deceived,” we’re already in danger.
🌟 The Hope in the Warning
This isn’t just a warning of fear—it’s a call to deeper intimacy. YAHUSHUA is reminding us: “Don’t just look for signs. Look for Me.”
The elect cannot ultimately be lost, because their Shepherd keeps them. But that doesn’t mean the path is easy. It means we cling to Him with both hands, letting His voice drown out all the counterfeits.
A Word for Today
Beloved, we are living in days when deception is thick—false teachers promising easy answers, movements that sound spiritual but deny YAHUSHUA, even experiences that seem divine but lead away from truth. Matthew 24:24 is not just about the future; it’s about right now.
So the call is this: stay rooted. Stay awake. Stay in the Word. And above all, stay close to YAHUSHUA. Because when you know the Shepherd’s voice, no counterfeit can lure you away.
Prayer:
“YAHUAH, in a world full of noise and deception, teach us to know Your voice above all others. Guard our hearts from falsehood. Give us discernment, wisdom, and faithfulness to cling to You no matter what signs or wonders may come. Keep us awake, alert, and anchored in Your truth until the day of Your return. HALLELUYAH!”
