COUNTING OF THE OMER DAY 27

What prophetic meaning do we see in the “Waving of the Omer for 50 days”?

An omer is an ancient Hebrew dry measurement which is mentioned 6 times in Scripture. It is one-tenth (⅒) of an ephah (Exodus 16:36) = “tenth deal”.

The word Omer is also sometimes translated as sheaf, referring to an amount of grain large enough to require bundling.

Grain needs to be crushed to get flour to bake a bread. The outer husk needs to be cracked open so you can process and extract what is inside; the embryo, and the endosperm.

At the end of counting 49 days, the Israelites was commanded by Yahweh to bring on the 50th day, two loaves of bread, baked with leaven, as a wave offering and as first-fruit to Him. (Lev 23:17)

This is a mouth full! Open your ears in the Spirit. 

Who is our First FRUIT? Yes Yahshua is. He is also The Bread of Life who was born in Bethlehem (the house of bread) and in the 40 days after He has risen from the grave, the Israelites waved sheaves and 10 days later, on the 50th day, they waved 2 BREADS.

To bake these breads, they needed to crush the grain to have flour for this task. They all did this not even knowing it’s a shadow of the Bread of Life that is mentioned in John 6:35! Yahshua Himself!

This is also why the Counting of the Omer for us today is so significant. During the 49 days Yahweh want to crush everything in us that is not from Him and want to prepare us for the Bread of Life that wants to give us life and poured out His Spirit on us during Shavuot/ Pentecost, on the 50th day.

This is a time of preparation. It’s a 49 day walk of preparing ourselves to be crushed by Yahweh to be the perfect offering when our Bridegroom arrives. Let the counting of the Omer count for you too. We are living sacrifices (Rom 12:1) and we need to be prepared if the Bread of Life want to pour out a fresh portion of His Spirit on us so that we will never be hungry in the Spirit again.
